Ingredients List

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 tablespoons celery, diced
  • 1/2 cup carrots, diced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cups shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper


  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Using a whisk, stir in the flour. Cook the flour for a minute, stirring frequently.
  3. Slowly stir in the chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Add onion, garlic, thyme, oregano, celery, carrots, and green bell pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add shrimp and cook for 3-5 minutes, until shrimp are cooked through.
  6. Season with salt and pepper. Serve warm.
